Stephano is first home from the 200km task, he is a worthy winner having won everyday of the contest, we wish him good luck in the World Grand Prix final in 2009.

The morning of the last day is blue skies and we expect a similar day to yesterday with 200km race along the southern part of the mountains. Launch will be at 13.00.

20.6.2008

This morning the sky was blue and it looked like being a better day. The forcast suggested no cu and a flight into the northern alps looked possible. Charlie our excellent "snifter" found cloudbase in the Susa vally at 1500 m QNH and after climbing to 2000m with his engine found no lift on the high slopes.

We elected to go on another 200km flight on the southern slopes but the conditions were a little better than the previous day. After a tricky start at Viu the northern route was not to bad, but the conditions deteriorated to the south and S5 and A8 outlanded. FM had a problem gettingto the start and decided to land back and fix his glider. Stephano was again the fastest and looks unbeatable.

The results will be available once all the FR traces are handed in.

19.6.2008 Thursday

The day started with low cloud which slowly broke up untill we had low cumulus with 5km visibilty beneath. We set 200km task to the south 50 km then North 100km always following the low hills at the beginning of the mountains. The start line opened at 14.10 with the max start height at 1300m QNH, and everbody slowly set off in to the hills in the soupy stable air. Climbs were 1m sec to about 100m above ground. All gliders completed the task the slowest taking four hours, Stephano in VS was again the fastest. See the results page for all the placings.

18.6.2008 Wednesday

Our first task day was a tough one, an excellent forecast encouraged us to set a 300km task but as the launch time approached it became obvoius that the air was still very moist ther was lot of congestus on the mountains and a low base on the plain side of the mountains. After two more task were set we finally decided on a 170km task. The start line opened at 15.00 local time and everyone got away to a good start. the problems started on the northern leg as some gliders slippled out of the mountains and found it increasing difficult on the lower slopes. Ghiogio in VS won the day and you can catch all the result as soon as we have all the Flight files and completed the scoring.

17.6.2008 Tuesday

14.00 It cleared enough to encourage us onto the runway but unfortunately the cloudbase never became high enough for a task. We are hoping for better weather tommorow.

10.30 After a cloudy start we have a little blue sky but with a forcast of showers and low cloud. We have set a task and will wait and see how the weather developes.

16.6/2008
The first official competition day for the Torino GP has been cancelled due to the typical 2008 weather. The forcast for tuesday is not great but there is a chance we will fly. From Wednesday there is hope that summer will return and we will be able to go fly in the mountains of Piemonte.
